»It is good that the volcanoes are there and that the soil we are walking upon is not permanent. There is no permanence to what we are doing. No permanence to the efforts of human being. No permanence to arts. No permanence to sciene.«

Even change is neither constant in its temporal progression nor in its intensity calculabe because even this change is regulated by itself, interferes and overlays and therefore creates new aspects. This fact involves mystification inevitably to which human beings tend when something seems inexplicable.

Each of the 5 videos show different processes of the volcano Stromboli which underlie a change. With Processing the pixels where replaced with colors that refer directly to the change shown in the video.

The music is the soundtrack of Andrei Tarkovsky's movie Stalker which was exactly how I felt facing myself with the conditions given on location.

Shot with a Nikon FM2n on Fuji Superia. This effect is the result of an intense sulfur steam treatment on location before exposure. After developping at home, the film was inlaid in a sulfur solution I made of brought specimen. The colors are pretty much referring to the experience I made by getting closer to this extraterrestrial environment.
